Fernandina Beach

Fernandina Beach is a lovely little town with shops to visit and a lot of good restaurants to enjoy. The historic area downtown features Centre Street which ends at the waterfront. Each May, the shrimp festival is held here and the streets are full of arts and crafts and more good food!

I have visited many cities where there are statues of a particular thing or animal that have been decorated, often to raise money for a charity. In Fernandina, the statues are of shrimp.

I remember when Atlanta hosted the MLB All star game and there were baseballs around the city. Afterwards, many of them were stored (dumped) at Oakland Cemetery.....a historic old Cemetery where many famous people are buried. Joyce and I have the cemetery on our list of places we have to go photograph. Hopefully the baseballs have been removed!
