Opryland Hotel

I am sure most of you have heard about the terrible flooding in Nashville, TN. I am always watching the weather in Tennessee as my daughter lives in Memphis and my son lives just south of Tennessee, near Huntsville, AL. I asked Allison this past weekend if she ever became tired of living in an area that seemed to be a target for tornados and bad storms.

Memphis did get a lot of rain, but most of the damage in that area was just north, in Millington where there is a naval base. The worst flooding was in Nashville. One of the spots that was flooded was the Opryland Gaylord Hotel. I thought I would share some photos I have taken there at Christmas time. The hotel has a beautiful atrium that is flooded now. They say it will take months to reopen. My husband stayed there just weeks ago. That was the trip I missed seeing both of the kids on. Jim actually took Allison and Craig out to eat at Opryland Mills which is also flooded.

Atlanta received similar flooding last September, but since there is a river that is flooded in Nashville, it is worse. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the people that are flooded out of their homes and especially to all that have lost loved ones there.

Thanks for shareing these wonderful memories. I live in Jackson, Tn which is between Memphis and Nashville so these sights mean much to me. I heard one newscaster say these floods were Tennessee version of Katrina. I hope I never see this happen again. I have family, friends, and coworkers with flood damage. Not only that but almost everywhere you go you have to find a different route than what you usually take due to so many roads and bridges being out. Thanks for the momories and here is to looking forward till we have things back if not to what they were that they be even more grand and beautiful.
