The 5th Anniversary party for Spellbinders Paper Arts is nearing its end. Spellbinders’ staff is hurrying-- scurrying to get all the little details finished for the big “party” in Anaheim at the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show. I mentioned to you that I was teaching at Binders Stamp Club in Atlanta on Valentines Day. We are going to explore Valentines with stitching. I developed a class a few years back (before the sewing rage began in the stamping world) that I called "Stamping Keeps Me In Stitches!". I used paper as cloth and cloth as paper. NorthLight even wanted to publish a book with my ideas but I dropped the ball and did not follow up with them. :-(

I saw an idea (I believe on Ellen Hutson's website) of stitching a honeycomb pattern on a card, so I have made a "Bee Mine!" card. I did not have a stamp that said "Bee Mine", but I knew I had "just the right" solution.....JustRite Stamps! This card, in fact, uses several of my favorites....Spellbinders die templates (oval & bee), JustRite Stamps, Scor-It board (be sure to check out my Project of the Month in February on their website...I will probably show it here too), stitching (a great thing to do while watching television) and Metallic Rubons. I have not seen CrafT (that makes the metallic rubons) at the trade shows in the past year and I am getting a little concerned. I love that little product and would be oh so sad if it went away....of course, one package of it lasts forevvvvver!
To do the honeycomb pattern, I used a stamp of chicken wire and my EK Success Stampamajig stamp positioner (another of my favorite things....it is the best!) to stamp the image twice, using Clearsnap's Watermark Ink (you guessed it....another favorite!). Then, using a paper piercer, I pierced the holes at the intersections. I stitched with gold metallic thread, securing the thread with tape on the back.
This great bee from Spellbinders (I introduced it back on 7/11 with the sunflower die template) has two layers, so I cut the back part of vellum and the front of cardstock. The metallic rubons really show off the detail. Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter (another favorite!) was applied to the wings to give a shimmer. I love to add thread as the antennae also. For the trails of the bee, I used a gold Spica (the best glitter pen!)pen. For an embellishment I used K & Company rhinestones, for which I love the EK Success Tweezer Bee for placement! Yes, a lot of favorites on this card!

Holly, such a cute card! I really love the stitching and, like you, have been stitching in my paper art since before it was the popular thing to do. Great work.
