Field of Flags

Field of Flags
Last Saturday, 3,000 flags were planted on the lawn of the Visitor Center at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield in Marietta, GA, honoring those that lost their lives on 9/11/01. The flags will remain there through Friday, when they will be removed and sold by the organization that purchased the flags.

This battlefield was a site of a Civil War battle, the beginning of the Atlanta campaign.

Joyce and I drove over to Marietta today to photograph the flags. It was very touching. I hope the children that were there will remember the day they went to see all the flags and will some day understand what those flags mean.....

Wonderful Holly...we had the same thing here in Riverfront Park over the 9-11 weekend. So moving and impressive to walk thru the flags! The only difference was the flags were a memorial type flag with names on them.
Your pictures are wonderful!
