Colors of Autumn

I am sitting in a hotel in Birmingham while my husband works, so I thought I would take a moment and post some of the photos I took while in Huntsville. We are headed that way soon.

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. The trees have not been the prettiest this year but you can still find plenty of color. One of my favorite shots of fall leaves is in water as in the shot above. I like the contrast of the wood, leaves, water and rocks. Another favorite shot is looing up at the blue sky through a maze of autumn leaves.

Butterflies are always a favorite of mine and this makes me think of my trip next week to Callaway Gardens and the butterfly garden there. The butterfly garden at the Huntsville Botanical Garden closes and does not import butterflies during the winter. At Callaway, the butterfly garden stays open, I assume due to it having a more southern location.

Another thing I learned at the botanical garden is that you can often join one garden and then go to others with that yearly pass. I might have posted that when I posted from Huntsville and if I did, just forgive me. I was going on much less sleep at that time! Anyway, that is a nice feature of having a yearly pass to a garden.
Lantana has also always been a favorite of mine. Both of my grandmothers always had them and they remind me of small bouquets of flowers and I love the colors in which they come. Another plus...they attract butterflies!

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!
