Instructions for paper strip quilt card

First of all, I talk about using gutter guard in the Wizard to create the texture for my quilt. Above is the one I use. I also use Spellbinders Impressabilities and Cuttlebug Embossing folders for this. Just thought I would give you a visual. I have found it at Goodwill along with the normal places like Home Depot.
Readers have asked for more instruction on making the quilt cards. I use label paper but you can use any kind of paper for the backing that has adhesive on it, whether you buy it with adhesive already on it or run it through your xyron machine. Opps, I put these photos in the wrong order when downloading them, but once you have your piece of sticky paper (my label paper is kraft paper so the cracks don't show up as easily), you place one strip across lengthwise, off center (the brown piece with stripes on it).
Then you will add two more strips going off from the center one. Just scroll down and then up to see the photos in the right order. Once you have the four quadrants established you will begin filling them in like a log cabin quilt (first photo).

Someone at the cabin this weekend commented that the cards reminded them of the quilt that is hanging above the fireplace at the cabin. My nephew also said before long, a paper company will begin making paper that looks like the finished card....now that would be cool. Maybe I should talk to K & Company about doing that!

Anyway, I have been busy at the cabin making cards. It is a very rainy day, not fit for anything else. Had hoped to go to a flea market in Pickens, SC today but too wet for that. Joyce had thought about coming up for a trip to the Smokies, but supposed to rain everyday! We did have a lovely day at Biltmore on Tuesday and I stopped by a great shop in Franklin, so I will be sharing those photos as wells as some other things.
Hope you are having a great day and hope this clears up any questions on making the quilt cards. If you do have questions, just let me know. As I went through my Martha Stewart photo holder packages I found that they also included a neat mat to use on my cards. I also found something cool to do with the glue and glitter that come in the packages. My sister said there has probably been a run on these at Big Lots stores all over the country! LOL!

WOOOHEEE!!! I made one of these this afternoon! I needed something special for my cousin's birthday in 9 days (she'll be 50 and I taught her to stamp about 7 years ago). I realized I had some kraft sticker paper and lots of paper scraps. Used a paper trimmer and a cuttlebug folder and I LOVE IT!! Thank you, Holly!

Hi Holly:

Jan has started something and we just keep making it better and better. I've had fun using fabric cut with a deckled edge and filling in spaces with glitter.

Lucky me -- I have commercial dies that I use to cut the strips in various widths and various edges. It makes the faux quilting much easier.

I have Jan's directions and some of her work posted on my site (www.terryfictimes.com). I would love to post some of your pictures there, too.

You are truly appropriately named and are my most talented friend.

Miss you and hope to see you soon.
