Mobile Botanical Gardens

Near where we stayed in Mobile and near the University of Southern Alabama, there was a botanical garden. It was free and I enjoyed walking around it on a cool, rainy afternoon. There was not much blooming in late January, but this one particular camelia bush made the visit worth it. I don't think I have ever seen one this large with so many blooms! It was huge!

There was also a fern garden and a section of azaleas that would be gorgeous in spring. I always enjoy the architectural elements of a garden like the one above and some metal bugs I saw around. Like I told my husband, late January is not a good time to visit a garden, even in the deep south, but I am still glad I went. I am sure there have been a lot of people who have put a lot of work and time into this garden and I do appreciate that!

Hi Holly ~ I haven't been by in awhile and I was longing for a breath of spring. I just had a feeling that I would find one here and I did. Thank you!! Your grandson is sure a handsome fellow. Glad to see you're still doing quilt cards and being the Charles Kuralt of the Craft World!
