Photos from the plane

Well, I am back in the 90+ degree heat and missing Alaska and the forty degree weather there! We spent all day Thursday flying home in three airplanes and arrived home about midnight. I am still trying to recover.
We flew near Mt. McKinley (Denali) and here is a shot from the plane...cool, huh? My sister wanted to know if she could count herself as a member of the 30% club since she saw it from the plane....she did not drag herself out of bed at 5:00 in the morning like I did. I told her I didn't think so :-) LOL
I really did not understand glaciers and fjords when I went to Alaska. I know there is a lot more to learn, but at least I can recognize them now. They are rivers of ice that actually move...they look like roadways to me. At the end, they calve or break off and make icebergs. They are formed from the snow that has fallen and is compressed.
These are a couple shots of what appear to be glaciers to me....a highway of ice from the plane. I am sure some of you understand glaciers much better than me, but I found them very interesting. They don't look like they are moving, but it is spectacular when they calve.
We also flew over the peak of Mt. Ranier in Washington state. I will have to look up the elevation of this mountain.
I have thousands of photos to edit and organize and projects to get started on, but I just wanted to share some of the wonders I saw on my trip home.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
