Christmas at the Biltmore

My mother, sister and I spent New Year's Eve up in Asheville, NC. We drove up on a very chilly day and saw the Biltmore House in all it's holiday splendor! It was the first visit for my sister. I had been at Christmas before, but have never tried the evening candlelight tour. The Biltmore is America's largest home.
Something new this year were the trees on the front lawn. I imagine this was lovely at night with all the lights on them.
My mother and sister on the wisteria covered library terrace. It was so cold and windy. The wind gusts were predicted to be up to 55 mph and the windows in the house made it sound like a train was coming through when that wind would blow! We were thankful for the "long underwear" we purchased the night before!

I just love this chandelier and spiral staircase!

This gingerbread house smelled so good! Since the holiday tours began in early November, I was really surprised how great it still smelled!

My mother and me out at the conservatory where the plants were beautiful!
The gingerbread house even sported the lions in front just like the real house!
Hope you enjoyed this visit without the cold and the wind!!!

How cool. I loved the pictures especially since I live in Asheville and haven't been there yet. Some day.
If you come back this way let me know I know of a good stamp store to send you to.
