Felted Sweater

The new Crafts N Things Nov/Dec issue should be hitting the stores soon and I actually have a project in it....not a papercrafting project (still working on that, though I did things for Rubber Stamper Magazine for years, it seems I can't get published....I have given up on getting something in Paper Crafts!)...anyway, I took a wool sweater, felted it (you wash it in hot water until it shrinks down and has a very solid feel to it) and then I did needle felting on the bag I made from the sweater. I used Spellbinders nested bird as my pattern and to make shrink plastic bird buttons and Dimensions products for the felting. I also made a gift card to go with the bag using Inkadinkado's stamp "You keep me in a flutter" with the card cut with the nested birds. I will look and see if I have closer up photos to share tomorrow.

When I was doing the sewing around the quilt card I shared yesterday, I decided my "stamping room" had met it's limits!!!! Queen of too much stuff speaking here! Well, the bomb that had been ticking exploded yesterday and my hot water heater gave out, sending water into all the Queen's stuff that was touching the floor!!!!! Not good! Then I had to go through the humiliation of my husband helping me unload the soggy stamping room so the plumber can hopefully replace the worn out water heater today!!!! Woe is me. I thought, I sure wish I could run away to the cabin when my Mom called. They had just arrived at the cabin and the basement was flooded!!! Seems that we both had purchased wet/dry vacs yesterday! So, we missed the flooding last week in Atlanta, but the water came anyway!

But I digress (guess I am just looking for a little sympathy....). If you haven't checked out Crafts N Things lately, you should at least look at it at the library! It has come a long way! Okay, got to get back to my mess if I have any chance of going out of town as planned! Thanks for listening to my whining!

Oh, Holly! Glad your talents aren't totally unnoticed by the world beyond your blog ~ cute project. Yes, the library is a great resource and the only place my tax dollars go that I feel I get direct benefit. Hope it's a drier week for all of us ~ it's cold and rainy up here and Jeff's water heater needed parts several times last week, but didn't gush over thankfully.

Wonderful project, and published no less! Congrats!!! You certainly are a Jack-of-All-Trades!
All that sure to play a little in it and take a couple of pictures - maybe work it into a card or scrapbook page. We have to think positive, don't we????
One thing for sure...know you are loved and appreciated - if we could all be there to help you, we would!!!

Holly - my daughter and I were just oogling over this felted bag and the turkey cookies in this issue a couple days ago - what a dunce I am - I didn't even look to see who'd written it! I have 3 giant tubs of felted sweaters in the basement. Lately have been making beaded, felted, baby booties - but that doesn't use nearly enough felt so i'll have to try your bag! Mary Lee
